Um..I think this thread was actually the opposite concern when skills came to progress..

Weren't you on the same bandwagon a long time ago? That noobs and players now could have the same skill set..?

There is no reason that someone who just started playing should catch up to players who have been playing for a long time.

Every player on that critical list has been playing for a LONG time

Logically, that'll never happen..But then you have w00ks, Lokis, and Pullos.

Stats can be caught up to past-time players easily, but skills take a lot more time to catch up.
To add to Biff's statement, on the 8 to 9 skill levels would do massive damage..Seriously? I bank 500-near 800 point hits with no skills in short-blade melee with the Cestus. If a level 5, 10 stats across the board, had 9 skill levels in his weapon of choice, he'd be lucky to get 300-400 points a hit. Stats and skills go hand in hand.

Biff stop hidding behind your idea to help the noobs, we all know this is so you can catch up while you were retired. Oh and your idea sucks.

My thoughts on this,

whenever you play AL, your primary competition is other players at or near your same level,
most of these people will be roughly the same "age" as yourself,
having similar oppertunity for training.

As you progress higher in level,
your competition bracket changes as well.

Older players that are lax with their training will be overcome by players who gym, and keep up with their daily career and skills training more consistantly.

And then assuming they make a run after a long AL life to be one of the best players in the game, odds are many of the top dogs there today won't be around anymore.

Its the circle of life,
as newbs get more powerful, some of the guys on top retire/ get lazy/ fade away.

I think that we have plenty of members to provide fair competition to all level players, and that even a wet-behind the ears green-as-grass newb can be a powerhouse if they stay on top of their training and skilling.

I see what you're saying,
that newer players haven't had as much time to build via the skill system,
and thus potentially would have a hard time catching older players,
but they'll be on equal footing with players of a similar age, and with dedication, (and the fact that higher levels of skills take longer and longer to raise) can catch anyone.

Captain Long-Winded out.

While skills are handy they aren't everything. Any successful character will have a healthy mix of level, stats and skills and personally I do not think skills outweigh the sum of all the parts.

To me suggesting a cap on skills is like suggesting a cap on how much a player can train or how many levels a player can achieve and besides that after about rank 8 the study time to get to a new skill rank is quite hefty.

Currently I'm at well over 500 hours study time to get to a new skill rank so it is by no means easy to get and that also takes into account the rising exam costs. You really don't want to be throwing away $100k+ on failed exams.

I think it's fine the way it is.

I agree..........why should those folks who put in their time be negated? They worked for it and hence they are rewarded............

If something like that were implemented it would be akin to Obamas socialist direction......Jail

When pullo spent the amount she did to get to number 1 longer term players were put out. The skills system means that this isnt as easy to do anymore, Im very much in favour of the skills system to stay as it is.
