Hunter, resistance is a waste. Has already been proven in practice by Onward. Brings your battle level up so you get less exp from any given target, and give more to people looking to farm you.
A belt has no reqs and still resists a crap ton of damage for you. A guy who has 5 levels of dexterity on you but no resistance will still push your shit in 9/10 times.
