Have you checked today? It doesn't seem to be anymore, yesterday I donated 14 credits at 8am server time and now (10 server time) it still shows 20 credits.

if you already have donor status, you will be paying for the next available day...a full 24 hour period.

Ah, thanks Dingus, I'll have to check again tomorrow to be sure though since I know I did have to pay 20 credits to get my donator status for today.
