experience from attacking
Post: #1
Ok, so I've monitored this over quite a few attacks to be sure. But from lv 23/24's (one with gang, two others without) I am getting between 210-250 exp- towards the low end mostly, 250 is quite rare.

Then from lv 19/20's (some with gang, one without) I am getting from 220-270 exp.

Really really strange.

My clearest comparison would be killing a lv 24, with gang, and with far higher stats and getting 210 xp, then killing a lv 20, no gang, inferior stats on everything, and getting 270. Can't make any sense of this at the moment..

there combat stats may have a factor in the amount of exp they give out

That's what I thought, but the 24 I killed was top 10 battle stats, and all the high levels I've been killing have been in the top 20. The 19/20's have all been outside top 20, yet give higher XP. I've never seen 270 from a 22/23/24.

perhaps then the amount of hp you have remaining form the attack

possibly yea... but that just doesn't make sense. You get more XP for an easier fight? Everything in this game is risk vs reward... not losing much HP would normally mean less XP.

Don't know if you looked (i guess most of the time it doesnt apply at all) but attacking some1 with less than full health reduces your exp gain radically. I usually get 160-180 for a level 17 and the other i attacked 1 that was at good health instead of healthy and i got 99 exp. Huge difference but again, i doubt those level 23+ are always under max life when you attack them but could be a part of your answer.

There has always been a randomness component to XP gains.

Level of opponent is a major factor in determining XP gains. Normally, you will always gain more XP for attacking a higher-level player. The randomness factor however might affect this, especially when you get to very high levels.

makes sence the higher the level the bigger the diff in exp.

I know that, but is there something that means the more you hit someone, the less XP they give? Or the less active they are, the less XP?

Cass and DarkTemplar, I've NEVER got above 260 XP from. Yet the first time I hit an active lv 20, I got 270.

This isn't based on a couple of attacks, I've hit those guys over 100 times each.

just thought I'd bring this up on the back of some new data...

Myself and raf compare attacks a lot, and he's hit lv 29 recently- I'm still 26. He's reporting more than a few attacks on players between lv 22-24 where he gets over 300 XP, which I've NEVER seen- I think I might have got 290 once, we're hitting the same targets.

The strange thing is, he wasn't getting 300's before he hit 28/29 either. It seems that the higher his level, the MORE XP he gets, whereas I've always noticed at lower levels the complete opposite, the bigger the difference in levels, the less XP you get.

Don't suppose you could shed any light on this?
