i've seen a lot of argument over whats better, training or promotion, so i did the math to see if this helps anybody
NOTE: this is if you have a 500 point career path, and are starting out at approx 40 career points per day
it will take you:
12.5 days to earn level 2 (now earning 50CP per day)
20 days to earn level 3, total of 32.5 days (now 60CP per day)
25 days to earn level 4, total of 57.5 days (now 70CP per day)
28.5 days to earn level 5, total of 86 days (now 80 per day)
so in about 86 days, on average, you will be able to get promoted from level 1 to level 5, assuming standard deviation doesnt screw you and you dont miss any work hours. if you stayed level 1, you would have approx 3440 career points, assuming you did not promote and spent all your points on training. but now, you achieve points twice as fast so..
86 days at 80 points per day = 6880 career points
172 days at 40 points per day = 6880 career points
at 172 days TOTAL (86 days of promotions and 86 days of training) you will achieve the same amount of career points as somebody who will not promote at all.
if you want to train now, go for it, but in the long run, we all know who will win
again, these are all approximations and averages
