weebay suggested something similar and i thought it was worth repeating, as i'd think it would help keep players working toward something and give them other goals on top of the ones already instituted in the game.

the suggestion would be some sort of 'awards' program where players would receive a profile tag (for lack of better words) for achieving certain plateaus.

i don't recall what exactly weebay suggested but here's what i was thinking. you get a few different categories (attacking, defending, jail busting, warring, careers, skills, etc) and as you reach a plateau (eg. 500 attacks won) a colored number would be posted on your profile (a red 1 for the first attacking achievement, a green 1 for the first defending achievement eg. 250 defenses won and so on).

if anything else, it gives players another thing to work towards and play for. we all know profile tags are given out few and far between (as they should be) but this would give players a way to personalize their profile in another way.

I like this. The awards could be anything too. attacks, jail busts, mug winnings, casino games winnings, hosp times that are big, number of 1000+ hits, ect. This would add a bit of fun to the game.

here's how i envisioned it.

everyone starts from scratch with the numbers eg. if pun wanted to get the attacking tag, he'd have qualify again even though he already has enough from his character to qualify from previously...i'd suggest that with each achievement, the player is rewarded something (like 25 credits) but i could easily see people trying to exploit that even more than if it's just a profile tag being rewarded. the criteria for each achievement would be unknown as well as what areas will have an achievement to be obtained.

some random ideas would be...

attacking...in order to get a qualifying attack, the opposing player must be at full strength and only 'leave' type of attacks would count.
1 500 wins
2 1000 wins
3 2000 wins etc...

defending...player must overpower an equipped player at a minimum of 85% health on a 'leave' defense.
1 250 successful defenses
2 500 successful defenses
3 1000 successful defenses

warring...player must simply land X amount of hits on an opposing hideout to qualify.
1 2000 hideout attacks
2 4000 hideout attacks
3 8000 hideout attacks

careers...player must advance a career to qualify.
1 get promoted to level 5
2 get promoted to level 10
3 get promoted to level 15

skills...player must advance all of one skill group to level X to qualify.
1 advance all three defensive skills to level 5
1 advance all three knowledge skills to level 5
1 advance a combat skill to level 10

jail busting, casino, high hits...etc could all be worked in somehow very easily.

all that would show up on the players profile would be a colored number so i don't see where this would cause any lag or clutter up profiles.

Well, if you really want to get a good idea of some good achievement models you can google pretty much every other game like Awakenedlands I agree with you it's time we got in on the achievements also

it gives every player, no matter the age or agenda, something to work towards. if someone only wants to concentrate on jail busting and strictly wants to be the best at only that, this gives them the option to be noticed and rewards them at least in a small way.

those small things keep people playing.

While I like the idea of everybody starting from scratch or everything to make it fair. However I'm level 14 career already and getting another 15 levels would be a pain. I think that careers should be grandfathered in. But I'm slightly biased.

Well obviously careers you woulnt hav to start again on, but yes this idea is good. Maybe a info screen should pop up when you mouse over the numbers, jut so people can see them and know what they are. Or would that kill the unknown factor?

I like the idea. It should be easy to add.

But there are some thing I, as a player, would want to remain anonymous. Skill/career levels.
