Could be easy enough to "suspend" the effects of candy when you're in the Thunderdome.

If you travel to the combat area, effects of candy are temporarily removed, and not used up.

It'd be interesting to keep everyone in the arena at all times, but to add medical villages to the arena. The more you have, the less time you take recovering and the faster you can get into battle. The interesting part is that you can attack these villages and destroy them. Destroying them raises the stays of people going to the hospital, and people can repair them to keep them alive so that they can keep their hospital time low. If one's destroyed, it's gone, people have a total of 5 or so.

Just an idea.
