The defensive skills will not cancel the offensive skills. Just like getting new armor does not cancel out a new gun. Not to mention people can now choose what they want to focus on, defensive, offensive or maybe a little of both. If you already have a 3 or 4 of an offensive skill, and you continue to train that offensive skill, no one training a defensive skill can catch you, even with the "bottle-neck affect."

100% agree with this. 1 level of weapon skill, increase your Critical, Damage, and Accuracy. You will need 1 level of each defensive skill to counter 100%.
