No,
pretty much just stat gains,
but some of the courses, like DW said, can raise stats that are otherwise difficult to raise, i.e. intelligence, endurance, and reputation

these help you out in many aspects of the game,
and aside from credit conversions or converting a drek-ton of career points,
school is an efficient way to raise them.
