they upgrade str its not like your make weight stays the same while the equipment gets heavier its obvious that the more str you get the more you can carry therefore if your equipment is heavy you need alot of str and if you have a crap load of str then you will have no problem lugging around the heavy stuff

you havent noticed? when your str stat goes up you max weight that you can carry goes up...

Natural strength helps the most.
Endurance helps a little.
Cyberware strength is between those two.

Thanks for the answers everyone. So if someone up'ed thier str stat, then thier enc would go down? Or the numbers of kgs you can carry goes up? Or both.
