I was wondering how and where you change your status to away. also, what exactly does it imply to your gameplay. ie. does it put on hold your donator days, can you be attacked, etc.

Away is merely a status saying you have logged in, but haven't acted in the last few minutes. Normally your status goes from onlne, to away, to offline.

It's not a status you can set manually. It just lets other players see who's been online but inactive for a time.
