i question the use of "an" followed by "unique". you may be 100% correct in using it (i honestly don't know), it just doesn't seem to roll of the tongue like "a unique" does. any english majors in the class that can add input?

Might sound better to use a, but an is the correct way to do it, whenever it follows a word starting with a vowel.

With two exceptions: When u makes the same sound as the y in you, or o makes the same sound as w in won, then a is used.
