I find that a mix of careers works for me. I spend most of my time in Politics, and switch over to construction the day before we are planning an attack on a mega gang so that I have points in war time repair. I’m 4th level in politics, and 3rd level in construction. I did waste some time with other careers, but they may come in handy when I want to raise stats. So I think for the mega player like myself, a mix works best, pick 2 or 3 careers you like best and work them. Every little edge helps. Zenith if you are reading I want a career day!
