i've seen much worse than that from people attacking me.. someone had over 100-150 exp difference..

i think when you attack the same person over and over again you eventually get less and less and then it seems to reset itself and bring you back up to your highest point... something i noticed, but maybe thats just a fluke...

also i believe healthy isn't always full health. so maybe if you are attacking at different health levels xp will vary.
