more res = less damage, but opponent can also get more accuracy to counteract the resistance to continue doing damage.

but I think that once you have a certain limit of resistance you will always have a chance at resisting good even tho opponent has really high accuracy. Cause of the new combat code that allows more variables to make combat more of a chance game.

otherwise one could just train up resistance to level 25 and never get injured.
