instead of having you status run out at midnight. could it be 24 hours from the hour on which your purcashed the status?

If you buy 30+ donor status you get plenty of warning (5 days if I'm not mistaken) to renew your status.
If you pay by the day, the credit cost goes down as it gets later in the day.
As such, no. Its fine the way it is.
