actually i am using an electric axe right now i was just wonderin which was better

While axes are better overall weapons, the submachine guns have a harder hit in PvP.
At the end of the day, if you are with a gang that wars a lot, switching weapons constantly gets to be a pain in the arse.
Stick with axes, and beef up your dexterity and strength.
