I failed my first level test once and passed. I failed my 2nd level test two or three times and my 3rd level test I studied up to 100% for the guarantee. This is my strategy moving forward.

For instance, take my test case (500 tests each rank). A level 20 with all 20's for stats using a T-350 shotgun fighting a level 30 with all 30's for stats using SiC armor.
Rank 0 (standard) = 2.65 hits per attack for an average of 168.2 total damage
Rank 1 = 2.98 hits per attack for an average of 193.7 total damage
Rank 2 = 3.09 hits per attack for an average of 210.5 total damage
Rank 3 = 3.37 hits per attack for an average of 237.8 total damage
Rank 4 = 3.51 hits per attack for an average of 268.1 total damage
Rank 5 = 3.68 hits per attack for an average of 301.8 total damage
Rank 100 (just for kicks) = 1 hit per attack for an average of 2,215.5 damage
that is zen's practice battle..as you can see the 5th rank almost doubles the original damage..so yea at rank 5 it is most likely worth it.i have rank 2 in axes and i dont see very much difference in my attacks.the chart shows i should see more damage .the problem is that i really dont see much of a difference.maybe its just me,but then again maybe its not..

It says those figures are for a level 20 with all level 20 stats. You're a level 16 so you probably wouldn't see these kinds of numbers.
