My questions is did they have this gang from the start? If not, then really nothing was accomplished.

Shadows Asylum has always been shadows asylum, if memory serves. It may have been a shell that was bought with some insignificant amount of GPs on it, but I;d feel comfortable saying 95% of those GPs are shadow's.
TreyAnastatio has always been Shadows, right? Gang has existed since he has practically.

If thats the old 499ers gang then it had quite a lot of gp on it when it was bought. Doesn't detract as much from the achievement, because 300 is alot and they got their rather quickly.
Habitats hideyhole had 50k when Bird bought it I believe, which means they have earned 500k since the started warring, that is a huge accomplishment and I don't think anyone is knocking it.

No ones knocking it...just saying that they did not earn all the gp.

I think this was discussed when we hit 200k, there was maybe 40k points when we got it...a lot of us did take a bit of a break and were in Habitat helping to earn a few of their massive total.
