It's actually more of an ideological thing. I've been loaned interest-free from my gang in the past. Therefore, I feel obliged to do the same in return. Further, if I were going to lend out to non-gang members, I would feel compelled to charge interest, but since I am opposed to charging interest, it would have to be free. Classic Catch-22.

What if I wanted a loan and put up a unique item as collateral until I could pay the loan back?
