That sort of thing has happened to me a couple of times lately. It doesn't really seem fair does it? At least mine weren't very much, but it does seem weird it charges both people.
well it doesnt charge both players, it's just that i gotta pay him back! =(
It's the same as when you get attacked by 2 players at the exact second, nothing can be done about it as it is probably the same loop in the code.

This happen to me a while back and explanation that Zen gave for it was the two had to click at the exact same time and have the exact same internet speed.
its happened a few times to me as well
