how come my archives have selective archiving? I have mails from only the same few people.

I noticed that last night...I know that I had a couple mails from Conrad and from DeathByKiss and from others that are not showing in my archives. At first I thought it was because it didnt go back to the beginning but it does.
ancient mails are removed from the archive to speed up the nightly backup.
