I did not enjoy the same level of success, despite having 7 ranks in shotgun at the time.... and twice what the stats required.

The SB-1 crits hard, as does the Tiffani. Sb-1 top crit was around 1200 for me, and the tiffani, while I surely have not tested it thoroughly enough, nor unlocked enough of it's potential to believe it's at it's best, has critted for 1395 before armor/belt reductions.
