The amount of extra dev pt gain from Endurance is proportional to the total dev pt in endurance.

Here, add to your maths that ~600 dev point added to endurance with 1000 happiness means 2 more dev points for a full train at level 54.
And 500 dev into endurance with 1150 happines is about the same, you do the rest.

Actually I have a rough equation that seems to work pretty well, a 100 point happiness increase is equivalent to a 3700 point increase in Endurance.

That would entirely depends on what is your endurance.
A 100 happiness points cannot give the same bonus with 10 endurance or 25.
I've tested it up to an endurance of 30, you will get the same increase in dev points (for 100 happiness or 3700 end points) regardless of your current stats in each; i.e. 100 points of happiness will get you an extra 0.1 dev points per energy, as will 3700 endurance points.
It's pretty rough but seems to fit with all players I've been able to test.
